rolling over

Ryne is now rolling over (back to belly), which makes diaper changing a challenge sometimes :)

He is also trying "big boy" food. He likes oatmeal, applesauce, and prunes. He is not crazy about the spoon, but he is starting to get the hang of it. We are looking forward to seeing our family tomorrow for Thanksgiving and doing some Christmas shopping this weekend. We haven't traveled with him in a few months so it will be interesting to see how he does on the 4 hour trip. We are leaving B'ham at 8:00 tonight so maybe he will sleep on the way down. Happy Thanksgiving!

four month checkup

Ryne visited his pediatrician today for his 4-month checkup and second set of shots. He now weighs 18lbs 8oz (80th percentile) and is 27" long (95th percentile). He is a BIG boy! The doctor assured me we would not have a 50lb 1-year old. :P She said he will, however, out grow his carrier before he turns one (uh, we'll be lucky if he fits in it next month) so we will have to get him a rear-facing car seat.

I gave him Tylenol before the visit hoping it would help with the shots. He cried while the nurse was sticking him, but once she was done I picked him up and he stopped. He fell asleep on the way home. It was a peaceful afternoon.

happy halloween

Ryne's 1st Halloween was fun. He was the cutest & chubbiest tootsie roll in Birmingham. Alan and I took him to his first trunk-or-treat at our church. I was worried that he would fuss when we put him in his costume, but he just gave us a big smile. :) Must have been those prayers I said on the way...

After the trunk-or-treat Ryne napped while Alan and I ate dinner. He was pooped from being so cute. Then we came home and handed out candy to trick-or-treaters. Our friends, the Meadows stopped by with their four little ones (a Halloween tradition). We watched the Backyardigans and ate candy...

but not too much candy.

and then there were three...

So here we are the Paquettes... Alan, Janet and Ryne. Just the three of us. As you can see we recently added the newest member of our family, Ryne. He turned four months old today.

Our great adventure started when I found out I was pregnant last November. We were so excited we told EVERYONE right away.

At twenty and a half weeks I thought I was huge... ha! It was amazing watching my body expand and change over the nine (ten really) months. Around 25 weeks I found out I had gestational diabetes. Luckily, I was able to control it with a strict and totally not fun diet. Pregnant women should be able to drink milkshakes! The upside to it was that I only gained 20 lbs during my entire pregnancy.

At 38 weeks, just one week before I would deliver I felt like "any bigger and I would have to join the circus". Alan and I were so excited about the upcoming event. We didn't even know if we were having a boy or girl... we took the road less traveled and decided not to find out. We will definitely do it again with the next baby.

Then at 12:42 pm on Thursday, June 28 our beautiful baby boy was born.

and absolutely perfect.

The most exciting day of my life... I wish I could do it all over again.

He has changed so much in just this short time...

On October 14th Ryne was dedicated at church. His grandparents were here along with Uncle "D" and Sherice to celebrate the special occasion.
