october is here...

and we're loving it! Fall is my favorite time of year... the cooler weather... the beautiful colors, especially here in Birmingham... the smell, yes there is a different "air" about fall... the crunching of the leaves... the HOLIDAYS... it's all here!!!

We've spent some time outdoors this week. It's not sweater weather yet, but it feels great.

an ode to summer... in pictures

a weekend with the grandparents

We spent the weekend at mom and dad's. There was a "surprise" waiting for the kiddos when we got there... a firetruck and the princess mobile. Emma Kate's didn't quite touch the floor so Dad and I pushed her back and forth to each other. She LOVED it. If we stopped she would start bouncing up and down, signalling that she was ready to go. I didn't think the kids were going to stop riding them, but somehow we got them to bed that night.

Ryne was begging to swing before we even started to eat breakfast Saturday morning. It was no surprise since that was the first thing he asked to do when we got there Friday evening. Dad and Alan usually have a tough time getting him off that thing. He loves it. The higher the better.

Emma Kate watched from inside where there were no mosquitoes.

and then there was MORE riding...
of course.

and Sunday morning we said "Goodbye"...

this week....

The kids were sick AGAIN! For the second time in less than a month. Runny noses, that yucky cough, a few fevers, you know, the WORKS. Thanks MDO... I hope this doesn't become a reoccurring thing now that Ryne has started.

I learned that Ryne can climb into the crib... while Emma Kate is peacefully sleeping and I am taking a shower. Luckily, he can't climb with the pen he found on my night stand, it was on the floor where he dropped it. I also learned that if I am going to start potting training pull ups are a neccessity. No more au natural (as some "friends" suggested)... I mean I have an eight month old too so I can't watch my toddler every second of the day. I know you are all biting your nails wondering... YES, he has pooed in the potty. Exciting I know! Potty training offically begins next week. There, I've said it, now I HAVE to do it. P.S. We'll see

I realized that although I do get tired of whining (not me whining, listening to it!) I never get tired of hearing Ryne say things like, "I fic its" (such the handy man, looks like it's a tool bench for Christmas) or "Wha Kate do-ing" or "Jer-wee"... he will call my dad by his name sometimes. I think he likes the way it sounds and he likes to mess with dad, who of course wants to hear Grandaddy.

We've been coloring a lot lately. Ryne doesn't like to color alone so I color with him. Of course, I have to color with whatever crayon he hands me... he's so bossy. This week we learned how to outline our hands. He doesn't like to keep those little fingers still, he says "it tickle".

Emma Kate loves Ryne's chair. She climbs all over it. She likes to sit in it like a big girl too. She has even pulled it over on top of herself. I know what she is getting for Christmas...
