3k

Today my sweet girl started preschool. She was READY; I'm not so sure I was. I must say it was strange not having her tag along while I ran errands wandered aimlessly around town. She is in Ms. Dana's 3k class and we are happy to have a family friend for her teacher. Emma Kate seemed only a little unsure about things when I dropped her off in carpool this morning. Although her "best friend" Leah was not in her class and Stuart "almost pushed her" on the playground, she had a GREAT day. She was quite excited that it was finally her turn to bring home a treat ... SMARTIES!... which she had watched her brother do so many times before and which she ate as soon as she could get her little fingers on them. I mean really, it was the first thing she screamed as she got into the car, "I got smarties!". On the ride home she told me all about her exciting first day; I realized my baby girl will be ok without me... but only on Tuesdays and Thursdays. ;) 

kindergarten

Ryne is in kindergarten! His first day was yesterday. He is at our church again this year, which will be his last. There is only one 5K class with 15 kids and an awesome teacher, Ms. Stacy. He was pretty excited and ready to be back with his friends again. It's still only half days so our routine hasn't changed much from last year. He does however get dropped off at a different door where ONLY the "big kids" in 5K go. When I picked him up yesterday I asked him about his first day of kindergarten to which he said, "I can't really remember... but I do remember the playground!" I look forward to seeing what else this school year brings... I'll keep you posted. ;)

spring break

A couple of weeks ago I took the kids down to my parents' for spring break. We had a great time trying a new pizzeria (new to us anyway), riding bikes in their quiet neighborhood, seeing the turtle that roams from pond to pond, drinking coffee on the patio and visiting with family.  It was a lazy spring break and we enjoyed every minute of it!

This kid loves to write his name and his sister's name.  He has brought home papers from preschool and Sunday school that had both his and her names on them.  He's so funny.
